This office has reviewed the contested claims between Sprayway Glass Cleaner Aerosol and Windex Multi-Surface Glass and Surface Cleaner.
The original assessment focuses on three criteria: streak formation, fragrance intensity, and operator psychological stability.
Testing was conducted under uncontrolled home conditions. Neither agent was evaluated for compatibility with industrial mop buckets or floor wax.
Sprayway employs a foam-based aerosol that reduces overspray. This is a notable advantage for vertical surfaces in high-traffic corridors.
Windex relies on a traditional liquid spray with a higher ammonia content. Streak performance is adequate on smooth glass but leaves residue on tinted windows.
Fragrance differences are significant. Sprayway offers a neutral solvent smell that dissipates within six minutes. Windex produces a strong floral-chemical odor that lingers through the next shift.
Operator sanity was measured subjectively by the original author. Sprayway required fewer re-wipes. Windex required multiple passes and occasional deep breathing exercises.
Eco-friendliness claims are noted but not verified. Sprayway is propane-propelled, which is less energy-intensive to manufacture. Windex bottles are recyclable but the formula contains phthalates.
Recommendation: For government janitorial procurement, Sprayway is the superior choice for streak-free results and reduced exposure complaints. Windex remains acceptable for intermittent use by desk-bound personnel.
No further field tests are planned at this time. Mopping schedule permits no additional lab time.
Signed, W. Hoffman, DRDM Janitorial Services. Preliminary Assessment Report, 28 October 2024.
