The Department of Random Domain Management has received a filing from the Falls.net agency under the title "Winter Magic at Niagara Falls: Top Indoor & Outdoor Activities for Cold Weather."
We note with professionally managed disappointment that the filing encourages tourist visitation during the season when the water volume is at its lowest and the likelihood of hypothermia is at its highest.
The guide endorses the following indoor activities: the Niagara Falls Aquarium, the Butterfly Conservatory, and the Casino Niagara.
Outdoor activities include winter hiking on the Niagara Gorge trail, ice skating at the Fallsview Casino outdoor rink, and the Journey Behind the Falls experience.
We observe that all of these activities remain operational despite snow, wind, and the general public's inability to dress appropriately for the conditions.
The Department has reviewed these recommendations and finds them consistent with the tourism board's ongoing campaign to keep visitors spending money even when they cannot see the Falls due to fog.
Residents are advised that parking rates will double on weekends and that the mist will freeze on your glasses regardless of whether you use anti-fog spray.
