TODAY'S ITEM PICNIC BASKETS
----------------------------------------------------------------

KAREN: My grandmother used to say a proper picnic basket needs a checked lining and a stubborn latch.

MEREDITH: I read that the first woven picnic baskets had glass liners so the ants could not get in.

BOLDO: I have assessed the basket in the break room. It is not suitable for outdoor use.

MEREDITH: Why not? It looks fine to me.

BOLDO: The handle is attached with staples. Staples will fail under moderate weight.

KAREN: Well, it is the one we have. Maybe we could line it with a tablecloth and just be careful.

MEREDITH: I wonder if we could use the Epson FX-80 box instead. It is about the same size and much sturdier.

BOLDO: Cardboard attracts ants. Glass liners are preferred.

KAREN: My brother once knew a man who used a plastic cooler and called it a picnic basket. It was not the same.

MEREDITH: My car has a trunk full of fast-food bags and one old umbrella. I do not think I am ready for a woven basket.

BOLDO: I will prepare an assessment of acceptable basket alternatives for the office summer outing.

KAREN: That sounds lovely, Boldo. I will bring the Jell-O.

MEREDITH: I was looking at the picnic baskets in the supply closet. There are three of them.

KAREN: My grandmother had a wicker picnic basket she used every summer. She kept the Jell-O mold in the ice chest.

BOLDO: I have prepared an assessment of the picnic baskets. They are suitable for outdoor use.

MEREDITH: Do you think I could fit one in the Beretta's trunk? The owner's manual says the trunk volume is...

KAREN: You might need the fan on full blast. This heat is something else.

MEREDITH: I found a bag of ice cubes in the break room. That helps.

BOLDO: The heat affects the gelatin stability. I recommend shade.

The Epson FX-80 starts printing loudly.

MEREDITH: There goes the FX-80 again. It always does that when I am trying to think.

KAREN: At least it proves we have electricity. My brother once had a power outage during a picnic.

BOLDO: I will go outside to assess the heat mirages in the parking lot.

MEREDITH: Can I come? I want to test the intermittent wipers.

RECORDS DIVISION MEMO

A recently acquired LP has been shelved. It is filed under its catalog number. Joey can explain the catalog number if anyone is interested.

KAREN: My grandmother had a wicker picnic basket that she claimed was older than the Model T.

MEREDITH: I read that wicker is actually a type of weave, not a material. I wonder if it holds up better than plastic in the trunk of a Beretta.

BOLDO: I have prepared an assessment of the picnic baskets in storage. They are structurally sound.

KAREN: The heat is making the Jell-O wobble on my desk. I tried a new recipe with canned peaches and it is not setting.

MEREDITH: The FX-80 just started a print job and I felt the vibration through the floor. It made my desk fan wobble too.

BOLDO: The baskets are rated for moderate weight. Do not fill them with cast iron.

KAREN: My grandmother used to line hers with a cloth napkin. She said it kept the ants out.

MEREDITH: I think the heat mirages in the parking lot are bending the light around my car. It looks like the dent is moving.

BOLDO: I will need to go outside to test the baskets in direct sunlight.

KAREN: I brought ice cubes in a thermos. They are mostly water now.

MEREDITH: Intermittent wipers would be useful for the sweat dripping off my forehead.

BOLDO: The baskets are ready when you are.

ONE MORE THING

KAREN: One more thing. Has anyone seen my notes on the picnic baskets.

KEN: Your notes.

KAREN: I wrote down some thoughts.

KEN: When.

KAREN: During the meeting. They were important.

KEN: You were talking during the meeting.

KAREN: I am a multitasker.

KEN: Same time tomorrow. Try to stay focused.
